Dads and Dads to be

No doubt your here after the split looking for help but if not guys this is so important as the future is not set in stone !

I can't stress enough how important PR is and I will try to be brief.

Baby mum is now a recovered alcoholic and before you roll your eyes we were 23 & 24 at the time and she was the fittest bird at school we are now 39 & 40 child is 16 dong well.

Child was about 3 and I wasted 4K gong for custody and all I got out of it was PR and a visitation timetable that never went to schedule .

I will fast forward child is at middle school about 13yo I get a call from a women from child protection services who explained to me that it was my right to know as I have PR that the child's mother was with a bloke that was convicted of interfering with a minor and tho it was a suspended sentence she was obligated to inform me!!

Lads I had no idea and a long storey short after child protection, school meetings and a stern chat from the police coz I threaten to kill the him I recieved a final report that concluded baby mother had been groomed.

My child is ok not touched but who knows what's in her head until she's old enough to talk about things or remember ?
the sick ????? is now not with the nonce !!

Guys my msg here is this, unless your partner dies or goes to prison. The establishment historically believe a child must be raised by its mother despite what they do or get convicted for, the mothers parents also play a part in protecting there own

Get PR When all is good in your family unit this will save you money and heart ache long term, If anything happens to her if she's a mess up you don't have legal rights to make decisions if ur child is ill or in need of an operation.

If you want to be apart of your child's life after you have split ie go in to her school to help assist kids reading like I did in my child's class or obtain information on their progress, school reports or when they reach an age and qualification that you are no longer financiially responsible to pay the mother you will need PR to get this done!!

Good luck lads and my only advice as hard as it is at times your child didn't be ask to be born be there for them and don't let the mother draw you in to be the bad guy.

A Father

Hi there

I'm sorry to hear you had a result you were less than happy with. I would like to say that your experience was 13 years ago and the family court system has moved on from then. There are still problems, but if you read through other members experiences you will read of many successes.

If the mother breached the court ordered schedule of contact you could have applied for a warning notice to be attached and then enforcement of the order. Since 2008 warning notices are applied to all orders automatically.

The rules governing PR were changed in December 2003, before that PR was only automatic if the parents were married. That rule remains, but since 2003, as long as a father is named on the birth certificate, married or not, PR is also automatic.
