Anybody watch panorama Monday night about legal aid and self representation ?

It's ok to argue there should be legal aid when there have been DV accusations but when these are false its so unfair that the accuser gets the legal aid and the other does not.

My ex gets legal aid and I don't even know why ! The legal aid agency will not tell me they just say provide them with any new evidence but I'm like how do I do that when I don't know what I am being accused of !

And lastly I know for a fact her solicitor charges £50 - £90 per hour but a few months ago when I applied for costs which is still ongoing she counter claimed but I note that her solicitor was charging £210 + vat an hour. Seems like a fiddle going on to me !

Legal aid that is awarded in a lot of family cases is a massive waste of public funds in my opinion.

We have spoke about it many times on the forum that women are encouraged by solicitors to lie about occurences of domestic violence in order to qualify for legal aid which then allows them to afford the solicitors fees. It would not surprise me one bit that solicitors claim higher fees when the case is legal aid funded. It's a huge rip off, and massive misuse of public funds/taxpayers money.

But the problem is, it's a huge gravy train for so many, why would those profiting from it want it to change.

Family breakdown in the UK is worth £50 billion.....yes £50 billion.

So when some of us dads are worrying and emotionally distraught at the prospect of not seeing our kids and being treated like criminals....solicitors, judges etc are all paying off their mortgages, buying expensive cars and going on lavish holidays. Some justice right?

I honestly think the majority in the profession surrounding family law are just parasites in nature. I know myself that I couldn't represent someone blindly and accept what they say as gospel, especially when they were making allegations that could destroy lives. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Yet these people can....and as long as legal aid exists, and lies can be told to gain it, then the cycle will continue.

All we can do as parents is work within the system we have to get the best result possible.

What else can we do? Dress up as batman? No.....that wont get anybody anywhere.

The reality is the system needs a huge morality shake up, but will that ever happen? When money is involved? No.

Places like this forum where advice can be given and help sought, without ever having to give anything or expect anything in return is a shining light. We can do our work here, and let the parasites do theirs somewhere else.

Simon.
