Ive been to court three times, each time the judges views are different and formed from a different basis of thought process , What can we as fathers expect from a system which appears to display little consistency being as our “last resort”

I also even had a judge which said they were a “junior and not as familiar with the issue they were being asked to preside over” my counsel then reminded them of their options…………….. is it fair to say “come on step up” or dont be admitted to sit in this role.........this all seems to work at a snail’s pace and doesnt offer a sound basis from which to work as an applicant and is ruining our lives and bankrupting me –, I would gladly pay privately for a judge if I could see them earlier than is being offered via the system and at least get someone who is “on the ball” anyone else experiencing similar?

Hi Daddy1 🙂

As you say theres not a lot of consistency, each judge does have their own views and theres not a lot you can do.... if you have one that seems to have a good grasp, then at the end of the hearing you can request that the judge sit on any future hearings for continuity sake. They shouldnt have a problem with this.

The court process can be very slow and frustrating, and as you point out ridiculously expensive. Have you thought about representing yourself, there are many Dads here that are doing just that, my own son included!

Oh how I wish we could pay a particular judge to speed things up but judges are wholly independent of any interference, and supposed to be completely impartial....not even the government can interevene or interfere.

My son was at court on Wednesday and the judge was abysmal! We requested a particular judge when we first submitted our forms to the court, but we didnt get him. 🙁 Unless a judge directs his clerk to keep a particular case within his juristriction, its pot luck I'm afraid.

Hi

I agree with this 100%

The first judge I had was great, the 2nd not so good then the 3rd was somewhere in between the 2.

The biggest problem as said is that unless a judge asks to keep a case it will just go to who ever is working on the day your case is listed which means no consistency.

I do feel there should be the same judge throughout, though that said if you start off with a bad one then you would have them all the way through.
