wheres best place to find a makenzi friend thats not gunna over charge etc as really wud like someone whos been threw it all and knows how help as in help writing things down etc
Hi
McKenzie Friends are not regulated so choose carefully and make sure you get one that is recommended. You can have a look at the McKenzie Friends list on Families Need Fathers or the Society of Professional McKenzie Friends. If you choose one of either of these lists, try to find a recommendation for them as being on the list is no guarantee of how good they will be.
Alternatively, pm any of us mods and depending on the area you live in, we might know of one that can help. Some of our members have used MF's and might be able to recommend one local to you.
If you’re in the Midlands area then i can recommend one who I’m using and who came very highly recommended in this region.
Costs wise you’re looking around £50-£80/hr
I can also recommend the guy he had help me with a skeleton argument….although he does not help you in court like a McKenzie friend i spent well over 6hrs on the phone with him for under £200.00 for an argument and a re-write of my statement. And got lots of advice and insight to my case that i’d never seen before he’d pointed it out to me.
I’ve spent over 6hrs speaking with the Skeleton Argument guy…got the argument and case law + re-write of statement.
1 full day hearing + another hour hearing Friday + Four 1-2hr phone calls in preparation two 1 hr meetings prior to hearings.
All in all yes I’m in a little further debt to tune of over £800 for that lot…. but honestly i think well worth it in my case…
I don’t feel i ever got that level of knowledge or support or assistance back at the start of my fight in 2010 with the solicitor i had for nearly 2yrs draining me just short of £10k
Ask if they take a personal “family/friends payment” like PayPal rather than based on an invoice/Bill….mine did and knocked off the VAT he would’ve had to charge….saved me around £200
As dad-i-d says costs will vary wildly.....
Hourly rates should be 30-60 depending on experience.
Average rate for attendance at a first hearing including a position statement should be around the 250 mark.
im in north west area so not sure if id find 1 that will help me
