Hi just wondered if anyone could give me some advice ? I have not lived my children since 1998. For a variety of reasons last year they made it clear they did not want me in there lives anymore and to stay away ! I have recently found out that the youngest who has just turned 16 is often in trouble with the police and was expelled from school. I have had no contact with their mother for 10 years also. My question is,who can I call to find out if my daughter is in serious trouble or as she threatened to moved out of their home ? cheers Fattony

Hi there 🙂

Because of the age of your children, the youngest being 16, you'll find it an uphill struggle to find out information about them.

You could try speaking to the school, as a father you do have a right to discuss your children with the school, they might be able to tell you a bit about what is happening. I dont think the police will talk to you, but again you could give them a call, they can only say no.

Are they on Facebook? Do you know any family friends you could talk to? How about approaching your ex and trying to talk to her, maybe you could offer to help if things are out of control.

Good luck 🙂

I have doubts that the police would tell you anything - in fact I suspect legally, they aren't allowed to as your daughter is now at a responsilbe age. However, it's possible that the police might be prepared to include you in any program that helps her, after all, it's in everyone's best interests.
