I have been told that I will have to pay between £3,000 and £4,000 for each child if I want to obtain parental responsibility for my children, as at the moment I don't have it. Is this right?
Hi jonh and welcome to the forum.
There are court fees involved in getting parental responsibility, but they aren't going to be anything like what you have been told - I can only assume that someone has given you the likely cost for a solicitor to represent you to get this, but it is perfectly possible for you to represent yourself.
The Children's Legal Centre will be able to give you free advice if you don't have a solicitor, but it may be worth having a look it their latest posting in reply to another question, which may answer a lot of your questions - click on this link to take you there:
