Hi there I need abit of advise regarding a friend of mine who would like access to see his grandchildren. My friend has already sent a solicitors letter to the child's mother stating he he wants to be apart of the childs life but had no response, Could you please advise the next steps to be taken, Does he have to attempt mediation? fill a c100 form in?

I'm not too fimailiar with this, I know they have rights to apply through the courts for contact, but I'm unsure as to whether they need to attempt mediation first, Hopefully one of the others will have the answer to that.
