My ex took my son out of school at 13 to home tutor him. He is now 18 and has been very open about the fact that no home tutoring takes place. I have spoken to CSA and education department but they all say mothers word that it is happening is all they need. Now at the age of 18 he can barely read or write and has no confidence to try, he is also not good in social situations where he needs to interact with people.
I thought now he is an adult this would end but now I find out I have to carry on paying until he is 20. If he was in full time education I would happily pay but no one is interested in the fact that my ex is making a fraudulent claim and that he has received no education since he was 13!
I am at a total loss as to where to go next and would really appreciate any advice you can give.
Hi there
It's incredibly difficult to prove, if the CSA and the local education authority won't listen you could try contacting the child benefit fraud line, although again how effective they would be is open to question. The only other suggestion is for you to make an appointment with your MP and ask for their help.
Best of luck.
