can i take my boy on holiday abroad without the mothers permission?

...I would say you need permission, if she refuses you can apply through the court for a specific issue order. Or you could try mediation to try and reach agreement. Here's a link www.nfm.org.uk ....if you are on a low income or benefits you can apply for legal aid for mediation. To check this here's a link to the legal aid calculator www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid

To apply to court for an order would cost you £200 but again if you are on a low income or benefits you could claim an exemption from the fee.

You would need a form C100 to apply for the specific issue order and form EX160a for an exemption.

On the face of it, I agree with NJ - the only exception I can think of would be if you have a residence order in your favour.

That's right actd. If you have a residence order then you can take the child out of the country for up to one month without having to get the permission from the other parent.
