:boohoo:
My children are now adults.
The child support have recently contacted me and said I owe 1179.00 from the year 2000
Can they chase me for this??
Also I have married and can they take into account my wife's salary.
If I have to pay I would prefer to pay my children direct but there mum insist it's hers is this correct
Any advice would be welcome

I would ask them for a calculation on how this has accumulated, but prior to 2003, I believe that the CSA paid the maintenance and then claimed it back fro m the father, so it could well be money owed to the state. However, if this is the first time you've heard in 16 years, I would go to see your MP and ask them to raise a complaint about this. As to whether they take your wifes income into account, I don't think it's relevant as they are asking for a fixed amount of arrears, rather than an ongoing figure.

Hi

I second actd's advice - get in touch with your local CAB or MP, they will be able to help you with this.
