[Solved] Help needed - contact order

Hi

Can anyone tell me how long it takes a contact order to be processed and the mother to be notified in writing?

I sent the papers into the court on Friday 25th July (almost 7 days ago)

I haven't told the mother I am trying to get a court order for access. I tried mediation, but she refused to attend, so it was the only option left.

I just want to get this under way as soon as possible. I also feel I want to brace myself for when she gets the letter!!

Thanks
V

Hi, it usually takes up to 10 working days to receive the paperwork from the court. Depending on the individual court, you will either have to serve her the papers (they send you instructions on how to do this) or they will serve her directly.

The first hearing is usually 6-8 weeks from the application being made.

Sorry to hear you have had to resort to making an application. Have a read through the stickys at the top of the Legal Eagle section, you'll find some really useful advice for attending court in these.

Good luck πŸ™‚

Thanks so much!

This makes me feel happier to know it can't be much longer now.

Just starting out on this site, but feeling better already for reading some of the post.

I have a feeling I'm going to need all the support I can get over the next few months!

V

You're welcome. It's a good idea to prepare a position statement for the first hearing too,it's not a requirement but will help you keep on track and hopefully save time at the court. If you use the search facility there should be quite a few posts on this πŸ™‚

Yes mate all the above is correct unfortunately the courts is a slow process so try not to expect anything to happen quickly as it won't mine took 9 days to come through after I made my application then it was 5 weeks before the first directions hearing beware though when your ex receives the papers she will go tits then the [censored] will hit the fan mine went mental and she still hasn't calmed down, you've come to the right place mate so you've no need to feel alone πŸ™‚
