First post here. I broke up with my ex when she was 12 weeks pregnant , things weren't working out and it was the best thing to do. I tried to get to scans and appointments but she wouldn't even let me go . So our baby was due 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing from her. I don't know when my child was born, what it's name is or even the gender. How do I even go about applying for parental responsibility. I live in Dundee so what are the procedures in Scotland ? How can I apply for a child whose name and date of birth I don't know ?

Hi there

Without knowing anything about your child its difficult.

As family law differs in Scotland, it might be best to give the Scottish Childrens Legal Centre a call, they will be able to advise you on the steps you can take. Here's a link to their website, where you can find their helpline number

www.sclc.org.uk

If you are struggling it might also help to contact Families Need Fathers in Scotland, here's a limit to their website, where you will find details of meetings and contact information...just scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find details for Scotland at the bottom of the page

www.fnf.org.uk/help-and-support-2/local-branch-meetings

Best of luck
