I am a worried Grandmother looking for some advice for my son, his wife is Spanish and has taken the baby to Spain, she is asking him to sign some papers so she can register with a GP. We do not speak Spanish and know nothing of Spanish law, can anyone help. The child was born in this country.
thank you in anticipation
Jayne

Hi Jayne and welcome

Is your son named on the birth certificate? Did he give permission for the mother to relocate with the baby?

It might be helpful for your son to talk to Reunite, here's a link to their website and they have a contact telephone number

www.reunite.org

If your son is named on the birth certicate and the mother has taken the child without his consent, this can be considered as abduction. Reunite are very experienced with international abduction cases, but even if this isn't the case, they may be able to give your son advice about where he stands.

I wouldn't advise signing any papers without first knowing what is contained within the document. It is possible to get documents translated for a small fee, try googling Spanish translators.

Best of luck
