Hi all, just an update to let you all know I had an urgent hearing today, which I thought was first hearing but apparently this will be on the 8th of March?! So basically mum is an alcoholic. Judge was happy to leave contact as only 3 nights a week with me and 4 with mum as there has been no evidence that mum hasn’t drank since Boxing Day, shocking! So we are having a hair strand test which has to be done by 28th feb, can I ask if as of today she cuts her drink down drastically for next 4 weeks will this just show low intake? As this is the evidence in need.
I am not 100% sure, but I think hair samples can show signs of alcohol use for up to 30 days? Blood/Urine up to three days. If she has not touched a drop since boxing day, then I would imagine there would be no signs in their hair. Similar to drugs I think, blood and urine samples will show usage in last 30 days, some can be found in hair samples for up to 90 days.
If you do a quick google search, you might find more details on it.
The quicker she has a hair strand test the better. you give a blood sample which only shows use in last 30 days ( most reliable one ) and hairstrand test which shows use for last 3 months as long she don t shave it all off. they would calculate that over 3 months and get an average.
She probably wouldn't of known a alcohol test was coming.if u got a solicitor the quicker she is made to do 1 the better.
You are allowed to drink its If it goes over a certain reading it will detect severe alcohol abuse. a bottle of wine a day would show up as alcohol abuse
Thankyou for you replies. They have given her until the 28th of February which is a bit annoying as that’s still 4 weeks away! But she is addicted and last time she had to ween down so that will take her a good week.
I know in December she was very bad so hoping that shows up
Thankyou
I would imagine if it is a concern, you can request regular monthly tests to make sure see is continuing to lay off the drink. I have overheard in the court waiting rooms of clients being advised they have to do regular drug tests to ensure they are remaining clean
