hi i split form my ex 3 months ago lots has gone on we had a house of council just her name on it i didnt know that so i have had to move out with no where to go.she has alot of my stuff in house like clothes passport other bits i also bought everything in the house so i think i should get sum bits to get sum money back. im not going to take anything where the kids use. not so long ago i paid £1100 for a bedroom suit i think i should be able to take that to get some money back where do i stand legal wise

Hi Mickey,

If you have items in the house that you can prove are yours by way of a receipt or proof of purchase... or alternatively items that you know are yours (one i had was a Laptop)... then you could just request to have these items returned from your ex ASAP.

If nothing is forthcoming from your ex, it may be worth raising a Small Claim form called an N1 (searchable on Direct.gov website), this can have a Court Order that property is returned to you in the condition it was left in.

If you are asking for fittings mind, unfortunately, you won't be able to have them returned.
