I have just received date for my final contested hearing- 1 day in person hearing in Guildford Family Court in late December.
As my means are limited I have been using direct access Barristers for hearings, the 2 that I have used previously are not available. Another has quoted eye-watering £4,200 for the 1 day Hearing.
As this is a such a critical hearing, I'd appreciate recommendations from dad's of an affordable direct access Barrister and who really fought their corner based in London/South East area
.hi,
what have cafcass recommended for contact?
when I used a direct access barrister, cost £900 per hearing. not sure if I would recommend him as I thought he slowed things down to take it to a 3rd hearing. Would suggest to find one on the direct access portal, that specialises in family law/childrens cases: https://www.directaccessportal.co.uk/search/1/barrister
if cafcass recommendations are good, should make things easier for you & you could self-represent possibly. as judges tend to go with cafcass recommendations majority of time.
@wiseowl - Hi Wiseowl,
Am using Clive Sutton, not based in Guildford but he works all around - www.clivesuttonbarristerdirect.co.uk/index.htm
Have found him very reliable, quick to respond weekends and evenings.
Guildford Chambers have a number of direct access barrister's too, but Clive came back to me first so I went with him.
Good Luck.
