Hey everyone , hope everyone is well as can be 🙂

Ive got my FHDRA in a few weeks and the court has asked for a statement to be handed in 14 days before hearing and just wondered if anyone has tips what to put in/what not to put in?

had a real hard time with ex being so controlling and never letting me take my boy out alone when we was in a relationship but dont want to sling mud anymore...just see my son

So any advice and help and maybe examples of these kind of statements would be fantastic

cheers

Hi there

It's possible to share your concerns in a statement, without coming across as slinging mud...it's all in the wording. Usually the court will give directions about the length and content of the statement, is that the case?

It's always best to keep statements concise and to concentrate on the important issues, including too much extra stuff just clouds and he issues. Start with a brief history, your concerns and what you would like the court to do.

There's a format to stick to; you should number each paragraph, use a 2.5 cm left hand margin and spacing of 1.5.

As the court have asked for a statement, I think you are allowed to attach any evidence you have, but I would check with the court about that to be absolutely sure.

We do have some templates and further info, I'll get those links for you. Once you have a statement you're happy with, you can ask any of the Moderators to have a look over it for you.

All the best

Sorry I didn't realise you had so little time, that wasn't clear in your opening post.

As a self representing party the court will give you some leeway, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as you followed their instructions and got it in on time it will be fine.

Do let us know how you get on.
