[Solved] Dropping out of proceedings

Due to go into court in March for another breach of court order by my ex-wife.

Due to her allegations of child abuse, I'm facing (at the very least) another don't know how many months of supervised contact in a centre despite the last year of contact being overnight weekends and half of all holidays.

I can't afford more court time. It's cost me 3 years of my life, a relationship, a house deposit, 2 jobs and countless sleepless nights/stress/illnesses.

How do I extract myself from these proceedings in the most dignified way? My children are not far off reaching 16 (and would be by the time court would be over again).

Time to leave this nightmare behind. I can do no more.

Hi what a difficult time for you and have much sympathy for you.

You have to ask permission to end the proceedings, you can do this by writing to the court or applying in person at the next hearing.

Personally, I would go to the next hearing and tell the court why you are considering withdrawing your application. You might find the court are helpful on this matter.

At the end of the day, only you can make that decision.

One would hope, given the ages of your children, they will make their own minds up sooner or later.

Sending you all the best

Hi,

I have had little experience in this just recently. I made the silly mistake of not turning up for my next court date as i equally like you was fed up and frustrated, i was stressed and i had equally lost jobs, places to live, my fitness, and everything went down the pan. You got some good advice above but i thought i would reply and tell you to go with what Yoda says, as me not turning up to court made things even more difficult for myself and importantly for future applications, dont make the mistake i made.

Best of luck

Paul
