A couple of years ago my ex’s son (my stepson) , an adult at the time , threatened to attack me and damaged my property in the process. I caught it all on my cctv. Also on neighbours cctv.
The police said I could charge him but I didn’t at the time because I didn’t want him to have a criminal record plus it’s her doing by winding him up. , I did help raise him and I knew she had aggravated him to attack me.
Since then, my ex has been after me non stop through the courts and harassment. It’s been horrific, non lol orders, cms after me, sending threats to me and if I don’t comply withholding my 3 biological children from me. Her son has continued to harass and threaten me. Since had 3 more police incidents with him.
I’m now considering charging him for the incident. I know this will really hit a nerve which is worrying but she is relentless to destroy me. I also think it may help my case.
what do other dads think? Do I charge him?
I'm sorry to hear about your problems. It must be very difficult finding a way through them. Do you have a court order in place for contact with your children? If not, that might be worth considering. You don't need to pay any more than required by the CMS. If you're making voluntary payments, you can check out what the CMS would require you to pay by using the online calculator. It might be too late to press charges for an incident 2 years ago. However, you could tell your ex that you will do it, if he keeps on harassing you. You can report incidents to the police but they do not always prosecute even if you would like them to
