Hi,
Apologies if this has already been posted but I have a rather urgent need for advice.
A woman with whom I had a brief friendship over a year ago has made a claim to the CMS stating that I am the father of her child (One of Two).
Whilst it is arguably possible that I am the father, it is extremely unlikely (No penetrative [censored]).
I ended our friendship when I received threats from a man I believed to be her ex-partner, but now understand to be her current partner (Still).
I know, because she told me, that they have both used drugs intravenously previously & that the partner has a long criminal record.
My greatest concern is that they see me as easy pickings. From my limited readings on the gov.uk website, I'm not at all clear if I am even entitled to ask for a paternity test? If I understand it correctly she (The mother) must consent & cannot be compelled except by a Court (Too expensive).
I'm out of the country semi-permanently but do have an occupational pension in UK. To that end I've thus far had very limited dealings with the CMS.
What are my options?
Any advice gratefully received.
M
Hi there
As you doubt paternity, without penetrative [censored] I don't think you can be, you must tell the CMS that you are disputing parentage. They will contact the mother and ask her to do a DNA test, if she refuses they will close the case. If she agrees it's likely you will be asked to pay for this, but if it comes back negative you will be reimbursed.
If the amount has already been calculated you will have to start making the payments regardless, if the claim hasn't reached that stage, the CMS will delay calculating an amount until it is found one way or the other, but likewise, with a negative result that too should be paid back.
Here's further info from the .gov website

Best of luck
Hi There,
.
Wow, seems a bit of a stretch to claim you are the father, though I guess there was a possible way that she could have become pregnant if she really wanted to if you did things other then full [censored].
.
Have you spoken to her or has everything been contact with CMS, if she has made contact with you has she implied how she became pregnant?
.
I think the advice above from Mojo is probably better than I could give.
