Hi ll I’ve seen a few posts where people are saying the have found barristers for £700 a hearing which is a lot less than some people I know have paid .where can I find barristers that are charging this amount as it does seem like good value given what’s at stake
Many thanks

You can google direct access barristers in your area, do your research, make sure they specialise in family law, or at least have good experience of family courts.

this is the official place by Bar council:

https://www.directaccessportal.co.uk/

i found a good barrister there. please review the barristers history and what they specialize in.
while i contacted a few, one was insisting i hire them. i checked their profile and saw that they specialize in criminal law lol. so avoided that person. came across as though they didnt know what they were talking about.

I would advise that you look around at different chambers, and email the clerks as they will be able to let you know who is available for your hearing etc.
What I found when going to the direct access portal was that they would respond, but most would come back to say they were unavailable, so I then searched for the chamber they worked at and contacted the clerks.
