[Solved] CSA seized inheritance money

Hi I am new here and need some help , my issues with the csa go back to 2006 . I was told to pay my ex £5 a week each for our 2 sons they said that they would not really get involved and I sign a form saying that she agreed to get the money directly from me . She agreed to take the money from me or for me to give to the kids direct but that she would not sign anything .
In 2008 both of my parents died leaving me a fair sum of money BUT not enough for me to buy the property that I lived in with my new wife
Leap forward to Jan 2014 having married and having 2 extra mouths to feed I managed to obtain a mortgage to buy the rest of the house from my brother ( who had been left half in the same will )
The Mortgage hit my account on the Friday and the next Thursday I gave my brother a cheque to pay for his half of the house the very next day the CSA froze £3800 of my money ( there was some left over from the mortgage for house improvements .)
I have been told by people at the CSA that they are not allowed to take mortgage or inheritance money but they are unable or unwilling to give me the exact legal act that stops them .
Can somebody help with the exact legal terminology for this as I have launched an appeal via the County Courts to get at least some of the monies returned .
Thanks in advance Martin

I haven't heard of this before - the CSA do take assets over £65000 into account, but they assume it's getting an income so you are assessed on that basis. I can only assume that they have frozen your money as they think you may be deliberately moving the money to avoid paying maintenance, but if you have repaid some or all of a mortgage, that seems unjust, to say the least, in what they are doing. If the CSA aren't giving you the details, raise a complaint, and go an see your MP as a matter of urgency to get them to raise it with the CSA - at the very least, they should be giving you an explanation of their actions.
