Just been contacted by the csa, saying they have been instructed by my 'ex',and to supply my details pronto. We had an agreement that I pay her the recommended csa calculator amount, plus I have kids for holidays, evening & days out.I also contribute to new school uniforms, trips, and extra corricular activities(drama, singing & gymnastics. Can I ask her to stop the csa intervening,or is that not possible? Im trying to get my own place to have my kids stay over, but I'm worried once the csa start attacking my wages,I won't be able to afford anything. Also, because I work shifts ,nights and overtime, will I be penalised for this as it considerably increases my take home pay.I have heard of other people working a flat week as they dont get the money they earn, the csa does.

Hi worried and welcome.

If you have been paying until now according to the CSA calculation, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, as you are paying what you should, although if you are earning more than the figure the calculation was made on, then you will pay more. However, the maintenance you pay should cover everything, so you don't need to pay additional money to cover school trips, uniform etc. In addition, if the children stay with you more than 52 nights per year, then the figure starts to be reduced. She can close the case with the CSA at any time, so perhaps a word with her pointing out that you won't be paying for any extras on top of the CSA payment may be an incentive for her to withdraw the case.
