Hi guys

I have made a court application to try and get access to my kids.

Judge has ordered for a safeguarding report to be done, which I think is standard.

However, cafcass have done the report without speaking to me, and apparently, I won't get a copy of the cafcass report until the court hearing.

Should I be worried?

Thanks

hi,

when judge stated that safeguarding report to be done, did they give any specifics, like is it a section 7 report? so you have not had your 1st hearing yet?

usually after applying to court, cafcass would have a brief call with you to find out what the situation is. but sometimes they choose not to and don't send the safeguarding letter in advance, if they think it will cause hostility between both parents. because the letter may contain allegations that your ex partner made about you.

@bill337 Hi Bill, thanks for getting back to me. It is the first hearing, but not sure which type of cafcass report they gave asked for. It just says that it wants cafcass to carry out 'oustanding safeguarding checks' on me before the first hearing.

hi,

ok then it must be the basic checks cafcass do. they do police checks, and see if local social services have been involved. some info about it: https://familycourts.idas.org.uk/child-contact-arrangements/checks-to-safeguard-you-and-your-children/
