In a finding of fact hearing yesterday, there was a man that the PSU representative referred to as clerk to the court. Throughout the hearing this man appeared to be making notes of everything that was said in the final hearing.
I've been told that in order to appeal the finding of fact, I will need a transcription of the events that were taken in court and that this is expensive.
Would this clerk have actually been taking notes and is it possibly to request a copy of this transcription without cost as I am claiming benefits?
Hi
I don’t know if a clerk of the court takes verbatim notes. In my experience the court hearings were recorded and had to be sent to an official transcriber to be transcribed. There is a list of transcribers, sorry I forget where we got that from, and they charge different fees, I don’t think there are any fee excemptions. The transcription was difficult to read as it’s literally word for word without any “feeling”it’s like a script I guess. It was worth getting though as it was difficult to remember all that had been said.

I agree with Harli... they were taking notes, a transcription is a word for word record and has to be done by official transcribers.
