Hi ak57,

You can instruct a Solicitor at any point (you are entitled to that). They will then send notification to the other party and the Court that they are now representing you. This can result in some changes to the procedural aspects of the case but these will be best explained by your acting solicitor

Thank you so much, havnt a clue how we are going to pay , but we will have to scrap it together as a family. I think hes just over the legal aid limit, welcome back, I think everyone as missed your input and the sticky you did , i followed to apply to the court , c100 etc so thank you

I would consider very carefully whether you want a solicitor, or whether you can continue to go it alone with advice from the forum and the CCLC - what worries me is that you will either run out of money and have to stop using one part way through, or that you'll get someone who will do it at a lower rate and not necessarily be able to spend the time that you would like on your case.

My solicitor and barrister cost me about £40k in total (and that was after a reduction due to family connections) - my ex wife's was about £10k - part of the difference was the fact that my solicitor was excellent, but it was also due to my ex deliberately employing tactics to increase my costs - that's something else you may face.

[censored] thats massive, we would never afford that, we ahve done the leg work and ha the first direction which was pointless, just caused upset and miss smug to think she as her own way, no wonder dads give up. my son is very quiet and she knows this, she said no to everything we suggested. will we have a judge on the second hearing ?
We are seeing a solicitor paying £90 for the hour and he will tell us our options, we dont want letters phone calls, just want someone on the day to stand up and fight our corner and stop this controll she as, we want to be free of her restrictions

At my sons first hearing I paid £500 for the solicitor to attend because his Legal Aid certificate wasnt through....A barrister would be more :boohoo:

...You could enquire how much it would be just for a one off appearance. Get the phone and a yellow pages and have a ring round.
