Today I was given two weeks by a judge at the family court to provide my passport detail for the benefit of my illegal overstaying ex. I am told that its for the welfare of my daughter even though I have had no contact with her for almost two years. The local authorities saying that discussion for any future contact can only take place after I have provided my passport details, they are blackmailing me.
Can this judge actually send me to prison for not wanting to be used?
Thanks
I believe that the court are able to do this, even though it's a family court. You would be guilty of contempt of court, which they can take very seriously. They would try to find a resolution rather than send you to court if possible, in general, but if you are effectively picking a fight with the court, it's rxtremely likely that you would lose, I'm afraid.
Hi There,
.
I agree with actd, taking on the courts wouldn't be a good idea, If they are asking for your passport then I would offer it up to them, I don't think many people would win going against the courts they have all the powers at thier hands to use.
