[Solved] Cafcass called today

Hi

Sorry I haven't really got anyone to talk to about it all so I am putting it on here.

Cafcass called today and asked me various things, also told me the ex has informed them and social services of 2 things. I've explained my side of the story and the cafcass woman seemed ok.

I agreed to do whatever it takes to get the situation resolved, and she went on a lot about our arrangements before the court papers were issued even asked if I wanted to reinstall the same arrangements.

Don't know if it was good or bad she'll send the letter and I'll find out.

Hi Dale

No problems about putting it on here - lots of us here to listen to you.

From what you have said, it sounds like the cafcass officer you spoke to is being reasonable, so let's hope that it reflected in the letter.

Thank you,

I really hope so. I gather from what I have read, that their report is very important

Hi Dale

If this is a first hearing, you will either receive the safeguarding letter a few days before or at court just before the hearing.

It's a good idea to write a short position statement (no longer than 2 to 3 pages), laying out a bit of background, why you have made the application and what it is you would like the court to do.

You are right in so much that CAFCASS recommendations carry weight but they are not set in stone either way. If the court feels they need more information they can ask for full statements from both parties or instruct further reports to be undertaken. This can be a positive if a party is making accusations or disagrees with the recommendations or your proposals.

Good luck

Thank you mate, I've written my position statement and a bullet point list of contact agreed through mediation which shows continued length in time and never any issues, she's shown her cards by what she has accused me of and I just hope we see the judge and don't get referred back to mediation. She cancelled the mediation when she refused to discuss any further contact than 7 hours a week. Only a few days to go now, I really hope contact gets reinstated in the first hearing
