Have you looked at the sticky topics at the top of the legal eagle section on self representing? That should give you an idea of what to expect, as a starting point.

Hi there

You need to send the original C100 form plus three copies to the court with the payment, which is £215. If you're on a low income or receiving benefits you may be entitled to a part or full exemption from the fee and to apply for that you would need form EX160. If that is the case you would send both forms in together.

Once they've received the forms, they will send notification to your ex and you, this usually takes between a week to ten days and the date for the hearing can be anything from 6-8 weeks after application, depending on how busy they are... it there are no set times.

One of the copies of the C100 will be sent to CAFCASS who will provide the court with a schedule 2 letter, which is a fairly basic report, outlining any safeguarding issues and a brief background of the case. They will contact you and your ex to conduct an interview over the telephone, but you will receive a letter from them concerning this.

It's a good idea to write a very brief position statement to take into court with you, just a couple of pages giving a little background, any concerns you have and what you would like to happen. There's a template for this and some info about how to write it it, I'll find the link for you. You will need to provide your ex with a copy and keep a copy for yourself.

There a sticky about CAFCASS do's and dont's in the stickys and some videos that you may find useful.

All the best and any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

.

I can see them on my iPhone. If you go to the index page and scroll down to "Legal Eagle" section the first one and a half pages are all stickys...just look at the titles, on page 1 you'll find 'Dealing with CAFCASS do's and donts' and on page 2 you'll find a link to the three videos and lots more besides.

...and here's the links to info on position statements and a template

Keep it short, not more than a couple of pages, stick to the facts and don't bad mouth the mother, you can voice concerns but stick to facts.
