You know if u applied for a contact order and you back out/change your mind, do you have to contact the court and let them know and will I get into trouble? Thanks
Hi there
It's always best to contact the court if you wish to withdraw your application. You should put it in writing and explain the reasons for your request. At the end of the day it's up to the judge whether to accept your withdrawal request, but if there are safegauarding issues the judge may refuse, wheras if it's a straightforward case, they will probably allow it.
The only way you could create trouble for yourself is by not informing the court and just not turning up, in that case they may adjourn and set another hearing date. The easiest option is to inform them.
