I've just received a letter from the CSA advising after reviewing my case, they've worked out I've not been paying enough since May 2015 so I'm now in arrears of over £1000 and they want me to pay an extra £80 a month which I really cannot afford.
I want to know why it's taken them until now to decide for the past 17 months I've not paid enough, I've not been sent any sort of calculation of workings out of this plus the lady on the phone couldn't tell me why it was wrong?
They were the ones who worked out the payment in the first place from my pay slips so I believe it's completely their error but I'm being penalised for it,
Any advice on what I should do/who I should turn to?
Ask them for a breakdown of the calculation. If it's correct, I would tell them that you can't afford £80 per month and that you'd need to pay it over 2 years at £40 per month. If that doesn't work ,then go and see your MP and ask them to raise a complaint.
