My daughter has been keen for a long time for their to be a change in the residency arrangement for her between her Mum and I. I have been very careful to stay neutral throughout and am now told that she should be looking for her own independent lawyer. How do I go about facilitating this for her?
Hi there
I don't think it's as simple as that, it it might be helpful to contact the National Youth Advocacy Service. They have a helpline and website, here's a link
www.nyas.net/
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/People/Young-People/families/advocacy/practical-advice
www.sclc.org.uk
As you are in Scotland I'm not sure if NYAS is appropriate so I have provided the two links above where you may find information. From the first link it seems that 12 is the age that a child is considered mature enough to seek advocacy, but I'm not sure that its written in stone.
