I have residency of my daughter, she is meant to go and see her mother for the weekend every fortnight, however my ex partner stopped turning in january 2010. I have received a letter from her solicitor stating she wants to resume contact. That i can understand and handle myself. However my ex partner has assaulted me and had numerous people threaten me and would like to make sure she doesnt know our address. How can i ensure legally she doesnt know. I have been to the police station who informed me to fill in a SA1 form as proof of the previous incidents to back up my request. Have you any other ideas?

Many thanks

Adrian Brown

An interesting one - I'm not sure of the legal position, so check with the children's legal centre regarding this. However, I would make the point that since she has assaulted you, and had the threats, are you sure that you want your daughter to be spending the weekend with her? I would be very much inclined to consider supervised contact only at a contact centre - that would sort out all problems.

I would, however, also bear in mind a post on here a few days ago where someone found out (for perfectly legitimate reasons) their ex's address using a private investigator - so there's no guarantee that your address will stay secret - I'd therefore also consider getting advice about a restraining order to keep her away from you.

Hi apwbee,

I'm not sure if the Childrens Legal Centre will be able to help on this one but will ask them to pop by anyway and see if they are able to offer any advice.

Dear apwbee,

Unfortunately the matter is touching on issues of criminal law and unfortunately we cannot offer advice relating to this.

If you contact Community Legal Advice they may be able to provide an answer to your query, their telephone number is: 0845 345 4 345

Yours sincerely,
