[Solved] access to my daughter

Hi Im new here,
I have a daughter aged 4 that my ex partner has stopped me seeing we have been split for 3 years and since she got into a new relationship she has been fazing me out. The last year has been up and down she stops me seeing her when ever she feels like. Shes changed her name from mine without my permission its been 6 weeks now i havent seen my daughter and its killing me.

I like most dont have much money and i just dont know how i could afford this legally just wanted to know if anyone has had a simular situation and could help.

Hi Ben - are you named on the birth certificate? If so, then you have parental responsibility in which case she cannot change your daughter's name.

As for contact, the first step is to try for mediation to see if there is the possibility of a negotiated way forward. Otherwise, you are looking at a contact order, but if you represent yourself, then the court fee is £200 (and maybe less depending on your financial circumstance) - there are a couple of posts at the top of the legal eagle section worth reading - especially the guide to representing yourself in court, and we can call on the services of the Chidlren's Legal centre if you don't have a solicitor.
