Hello all,

I am due to have a court hearing on 8 February 2013 at Leicester County Court, where I hope to get (that's what the Judge said) my 50/50 share of my 4 young children.

I currently reside in Birmingham and my children with their mother in Leicester. My main question is what am I entitled to?

I want to go to Court prepared and request the Judge various things such as what GP/surgery my children go, name of school, attend parents evening, plays etc. The mother has so far refused to give my childrens medical and shool information (name of school), as she claimed in Court that I may "cause a argument" with the teacher. That is not the case. She has been very hostile towards me since day one and has done everything in her powere that I have nothing to do with my children.

What other things am I entitled to under the 50/50 rights, as I am sure it is more than schooling and medical issue. I want o know more about my childrens education, any after shcool events they attend and holidays entitlement etc.

I would very much apreciate if someone can give some tips andvice so that I can ask what I am entitled too. I cuurently have my children (who visit Birmingham) every fortnightly.

I thank in advance.

Regards,
Azimuddeen

link Start by getting in touch with the LA's data protection team and explain your position.

Thank you very much IVAN DOBSKI for the information you have kindly provided.

I know for a fact of I follow what you have done (contacting LA), and the head speaks with the ex, then I can assure you my ex would play the "dangerous husband" card....

nevertheless, thanks for the information and for the Wiki link.

Azimuddeen

No worries mate there's some templates for writing to the school etc here bearing in mind unless you have been charged or police etc have been called out for domestic violence etc then the LA cant not provide the information.

Something else you will need to consider is it's not your right as a parent but the rights of your kids to have a relationship with you and you need to start thinking like that.

Some good stuff here as well,

Hi There,

If you have parental responsibility you are entitled to know medical details, schoolong progress and also your permision would be required if the ex wanted to take the children abroad.

The judge should help you obtain this detail when you attend court.

Take a well laid out list that you want to cover and tick these items off as you go so you know you have covered everything you wanted too.
