[Solved] 50/50 child care

Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding 50/50 care, any help will be greatly appreciated.

1) On the subject of 50/50 care, do you literally take the whole year and work it out to the hour, or will having your children one week and your ex having them the next count?

2) If you have 50/50 care does either parent pay maintenance?

Many thanks

Stu78.

This link probably explains it fairly clearly

http://www.childmaintenanceadvice.co.uk/shared-care.shtml - should answer both questions I think.

Hi

the link actd has posted is good for the maintenance aspect.

In terms of contact - a 50/50 arrangement is usually either week on, week off or 4 days one week and 3 the next. People usually then have separate arrangements for school holidays and special occasions.

Thank you yoga,

The way we agreed to split the care of our children is in term time mon - thurs ex has them, fri - sun I have them, dropping them off at school on mon morning.
But in the school holidays I would take the children on her days for three weeks of the summer holidays one week of spring/Easter holidays, and then for the weeks of Feb and oct half terms.

I managed to speak to her and she wants the holiday arrangement to continue. By doing this it will take me over the 50/50 point.

When they look at the split if care do they take the whole year into account including the holiday arraignment or will it get based on the regular weekly arrangement?

They will look at the whole year I think and their calculations are done on how many overnight stays per year. From the amount of days you are having them, including school holidays, which i worked out to be 180, this is not quite 50/50 and the CMS would probably not play ball, if you had a court order that stated 50/50 shared care then this would go some way to convincing the CMS that it was equally shared care.

Hi Stu

I wasn't actually recommending them, more pointing you to a page that hopefully answered your question.
