So ive been given fulk custody of my chilf, i just cant afford it all on my own, and i wouldnt want to ask her fkr any money for help, what financial am i entitled to?
Hi there
If your child lives with you, you are entitled to claim Child Benefit and tax credits, you may also be entitled to help with rent and council tax, depending on your earnings. If you are struggling to claim and need help with this, your local Citizens Advice Bureau will help you with the forms and offer advice.
You are also entitled to child maintenance, if the mother is working she would be expected to help support your child financially and the amount would be about 12% of her gross income. You can contact Child Maintenance Options for more information and advice, there's a link to their website at the bottom of the page.
All the best
