[Solved] Supporting a family in the recession

Hi,

I'm not yet a dad but have one on the way, due in January. I'm pretty worried about the recession - I'm working but there seems to be redundancies all over the shop and it won't be long before I'm supporting a family. My wife's working but that wont last. What would I do if I was given the push? Would welcome any advice on being a first time dad - does anyone else have the same worries about redundancy?

As long as you are not aware of your impending redundancy, or have no reason at the moment to think you are being made redundant (aside from the general climate), you can take out redundancy insurance - a specific policy will allow you to cover yourself for up to 50% of your income for up to 12 months, and you could take out the options on credit cards etc to cover these specifically. Of course it will costs about £4 - £5 per month per £100 of cover if you shop around for a redundancy/accident policy.
