Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows the process if child benefit was originally claimed but then voluntarily stopped by 1 parent, can a new claim or a restart be put in by the other parent, and if so would in need the original parent to appove (or would they even be notified of the application?)
Thanks all
@bill337 Thanks, yes i saw that, but i can't see it answers my query, it states 'if you want someone else to claim Child Benefit' but there is currently no Child Benefit, but there used to be at one time.
So if i try to be more clear, the HMRS will have a record of Parent 1 claiming child benefit, but this stopped, now Parent 2 is going to claim benefit, does Parent 1 get notified that Parent 2 has applied, or does Parent 2 need to 'restart' the old claim and request a change of who it is paid to, and in either of these cases does the original claimer against the child get notified.
I've messeged HMRC but was hoping someone may have experience of it.
@chrispackworth81 you could call them if you like: 0300 200 3100
