Hi there, my name is Ashley and im helping to promote a website called on Money For Mums on the net. The site offers information that can help you plan for your expected child, including topics such as paternity entitlement, the cost of a baby and general pregnancy information. They also offer a free national childbirth dvd if you signup for their e-mail updates. Hope you find the site useful

Hi Ashley,

Can I ask, why is it called 'Money for Mums'?

It reminds me of the group around here called 'Music with Mum'. The title of this group annoyed me and when I read the group description it said:

"...and can come with mum, grandma or significant other"

SIGNIFICANT OTHER?!?? Even worse, I'm demoted behind grandmothers in the pecking order. And lumped in with grandfathers, cousins, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunties, friends etc. etc. etc. etc.

I had a huge rant about it, and when the lady who ran the group visited my wife's post-natal group she pointed this out and was told "that's how it's always been".

My point is, the language that is currently in use around parenting issues is currently a major problem in my opinion, and is exactly why I'm hoping the Think Fathers campaign will make a difference.

Yeah, no offence, but this insidious gender-bias in our culture is really beginning to bug me. "Mum's gone to Iceland", "Movies for Mommies", etc. You don't notice it until you're a Dad and it makes you feel like you don't matter...
