Paternity Pay Calculations

Hi guys.

My child is due later on at the end of the year. I am looking at my entitlement as regards to leave and pay. It says on the gov website the maximum entitled pay or 90% of your weekly pay if lower. It doesn't say anywhere though if this is calculated before or after tax deductions and if it is taxable like my normal wage. Also I'm on commission so how can I calculate my weekly wage when it changes each week? Do I do it on my basic salary?

It also says I have to give my employer 6 weeks notice if I choose to change my paternity leave. What if my child is a week or so late. Do I only get one week or half a week with my child. Or should I offset it with some holiday for say two weeks and take 4 weeks off? I would prefer to only take two weeks as I am on commission and it is the busiest time of year. So I'd be loosing valuable money to support my family if I had more.

Thanks in advance.
