Ok so here is 2
For those with kids still in nappies buy them from a store that gives points like Boots (other stores are available!) and then when christmas comes around buy your gifts for partners, grandparents, friends etc under their 3 for 2 using up your points.
Move to pay as you go that offers lots of free text each month. I spend £10 a month on top up and when its gone its gone, i just text instead.
ANother money saving tip - use washable nappies. You can save up to £500 per child using these and they don't add to landfill like disposables do. I've got a 3 yr old and a 6 month old and both have been in washables. have a look at www.greenmums.co.uk for more info.
We're expecting a baby in December and I've been doing research on how to cut down our food costs so we can keep our tight budget in preparation for our little one. We've found that planning out our meals every week helps to keep our food budget under control. If we know exactly what we're going to eat, we only buy what we need. It also means we don't run out to the shops mid-week and grab a bunch of ingredients carelessly.
I've googled "Weekly meal plans" and found quite a few websites that recommend buying two large cuts of meet at the beginning of a week and using them to cook for an entire week. Some menu planners claim to keep weekly shopping bills down to £40 for two! I'll let you know how it goes for us.
