For them to take direct out of your wages, you must have ignored several letters sent to you, as they don't just take direct from wages without good reason.

I assume your on the CMS scheme if it was set up recently ? It's done on a % of your wages and isn't really that much for one child.

They don't take into account rent, bills etc anymore

They have no right to deduct straight from your wages unless you default

Can you fell us a bit more about your case

What date was the case set up? Were you offered a payment plan?

i will try and keep this short.
it started in november when the child was born the csa sent me the paternity test as she requested, she decided she didnt want to do one after 4 or 5 weeks she did comply with them it was the end of january by the time we got the results. they wanted £900 back pay and £160 pound month i rang them and said i do not have that sort of money and went to cab. csa said they have reassed and will take £400 direct from my wages, cab says they cant do that it will not leave me enough to live on so ring csa again which i did. they said they will not take money from my wages and reassesed this time it was £250 i rang my local mp for help, she rang csa they said there is no problem they will not take this from my wages but they have anyway and now i dont have enough for fuel to go to work or money for food.my parents supply meals but i cant expect them to do that forever (thet are both retired) i want to work not live on benefits i also want to support my child but it seams i cant do both.i just dont know where to go from here.
ps no other payment plan hes been offered they went straight to my wages.

Because the paternity test took so long arrears have built up
They should of let you pay the arrears in installments although they can legally deduct 40% of your wages to pay arrears off

You should of rang and spoke to someone in finance and asked to pay the arrears monthly over a certain period of time along side your normal maintenance. 2 years is the maximum time they will let you pay over.

So your normal payment will be £160 a month is that correct? And you owe £900 in arrears but they have taken £400 already?

You could write a complaint in about how the arrears were taken direct from your wages without being given a chance to pay over a certain time
