I am currently living with parents but in need of having my own place so I can have my children stay over and it not be so cramped.
My children live with their mum and I see them an evening and I have them stay with me and my parents when I am not working wknds, or holidays. The council and housing association wont do much, other than tell me to keep bidding on properties which is taking forever.
I can only afford to pay for a 1 bedroom flat due to paying a loan I took out after I split up from their mum, child maintenance, fuel to get to work and money to do odd things with my children.
Is there any way of getting financial support from the government or other bodies, to enable me to be able to afford to go for larger properties rent privately?
I'm not aware of any such schemes I'm afraid. It might be worth contacting the Citizen's Advice Bureau, they might be able to advise if anything is available.
Depending on your income, you may be entitled to some form of working tax credits/housing benefit. As actd has advised, the CAB would be able to advise you further.
All the best
