I am paying parent, 18 year old son quit college but didn't tell college, started full time work for 3 weeks, was then laid off. He is signing on for job seekers on Monday. His mum is still collecting child benefit so csa are chasing me. I cancelled my Direct debit when he started work, she was also taking £50 per week off him for keep. Csa won't believe me as she is still collecting child benefit! Help!

Unfortunately, I don't think you are going to be able to avoid the arrears - even when the mothers have been reported for claiming fraudulently, it seems a slow process, if anything is done at all. However, if your son has signed up to JSA, then I would have hoped that the benefits agency would be able to cross check and stop child benefit, so your maintenance liability would cease now.
