[Solved] Consent Order Timing - Too Early

How soon should a clean break consent order be agreed during the divorce process ?

The reason I ask is that we are at petition response state and it feels too early to be discussing and agreeing finances until decree nisi is issued, as circumstances could change between now and then.

Appreciate anyone's views on this.

If there are children involved, do not, under any circumstances, agree a lump sum in lieu of child maintenance as after 12 months, the parent with care can ask the CMS to open a case and the NRP will be liable for monthly maintenance irrespective of the lump sum (and there's no getting that back).
