Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

[Solved] claiming child benefit and tax credits

Hi

My ex was the main carer for my daughter, but they had problems, so my daughter moved in with me. An agreement was signed by all 3 of us.
So I filled in the forms to clain CB and tax credits; how long does it take for the change over?
Asuming that it goes to plan. Will they contact the ex for her to sign off the benefits first? The forms that I filled in didnt ask for any details.

Are the benefits office not able to tell you how long it will take ? They must have an idea ?

I havnt spoken to them, just filled in a form and sent it off. Isnt this the sort of thing that single dads experience on a regular basis?

Edit - My ex sent the form back to the benefit office a couple of days ago, so around a week for them to process my form.
