[Solved] Childcare entitlement

Hello

Not sure if anyone has been in my situation before but I have been with my partner now for 18months, she had a 6 month old at the time,
Now my little buddy is 2 years old and we are looking to move in together.

We both have property, and I am looking to rent mine out whilst moving in to hers.
The only obstacle is money due to losing tax credits of a few thousand a year which is no problem but currently because my partner juggles the little man and uni 5 days a week but I earn over the threshold we'll lose all childcare support as soon as I move in.

So with tax credits and 5 days nursery a week we become 14k worse off a year.
We're having to work it out now whether it is physically affordable as although I don't earn bad money, to pull another 14k out each year is not so easy.

I have no problem with taking on any shortfall of finance as we all want to be a family and you can't put a price on that but it's just so much.
Unfortunately we don't get much from the father but even if we could it would be a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things and I'm not particularly bothered about that is someone doesn't have the money there's not much you can do.
But at this rate I'm not sure If I can find the extra money after making cuts etc which is sad only because it may literally be unaffordable to live as a family.

If anyone has been in a similar situation I'd appreciate any advice.
We're not trying to play the system or anything we just want to live as a family it's just it seems there is no in between from someone getting full support to a family getting zero almost.

Hi There,
.
I don't know the benifits system that well, but I do know that some employers run a child care voucher scheme so that you can sacrifice some of your income to buy child care vouchers which can be used for child minders or nursary fees, these vouchers get taken from your wage pre tax so you do save money by paying that way, it would be worth asking your employer to see if they have this system available.
