Is there any way of increasing your pay maybe promotion, have you thought about re training in another job whilst you are working, could you do a part time job to top up your wages?
My daughter works two jobs to provide for her little one, she doesn't get maintenance...The father left work when he got a letter from the CSA and works cash in hand just so he doesn't have to,give her any money.
It's hard and she's tired all the time but you just do what you have to.
If you leave works for a life on benefits things won't get any better....keep at it and hopefully things will get better.
Kalem1991,
Sorry to hear you're having troubles.
I know that it sounds tempting to "jack it in and go on the dole" - but in the long run you wouldn't be any better off.
Members of my family are (unfortunately) happily sitting in the "dole dossers" social group. They regularly have their benefits put on stop, they struggle to make ends meet and seem to day on day lack motivation to succeed and progress.
It isn't easy I know, but at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you earn (and pay) your way.
That being said, have you approached the local council to see if you are eligible for housing benefit as you're on a low income? It may not amount to alot, but something would help more than nothing? I'd also check to see if you're entitled to working tax credit (at £215 a week you might be)
Is it worth talking to your employer about possible training (even if it's inhouse) to improve your promotion prospects? At the very least it shows motivation.
Or as mentioned, look for additional training outside of work - I'm sure certain courses are subsidized for low incomes.
I know it must be getting you down at times, but please keep you chin up and remember - it isn't easy for you, but you are doing the right thing for you and your child.
You are setting the example for her, to have dignity and self respect... and that a man should work for a living (which may aid you in not having to deal with layabout sponging lads when she starts dating too)
Anyway, keep going, you're doing the right thing!
All the best,
BD.
