Hi
This is not a massive request as I know you all have your own stuff going on, but I’m after some simple advice regarding the first appointment procedures etc from people in the know.

First appointment is in 2 weeks

Questionnaires, statement of issues form G and chronology all have been submitted and exchange to the court and my wife’s solicitor. I’m self repping but I do take extensive legal advice with the solicitor producing my first appointment documents that I have mentioned above.

Point 1:- my wife’s solicitor replied immediately stating that my statement of issues was contentious and in-depth and not a summary he also noted it reads as a comprehensive argument and I need to remove such elements?? It was produced by my solicitor

Point2:- what do I need to do leading up to the first appointment??? Regarding paperwork and communications with the court or wife’s solicitor. I have already started to gain evidence to his questionnaire but Iam not really too aware of the process.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Martin

Hi Marin

The divorce side of things isn't in my sphere of knowledge, but here's a link to Advice Now guidelines/PDF that you might find helpful. There's also a book written by a top divorce lawyer, I think it's called Divorce Without a Lawyer by Marilyn Stowe, there's a kindle version that's pretty cheap I think.

If this link won't work, just go to the Advice Now website and search for Divorce without a lawyer and it should come up, they have guides that they charge for, but this link is free I believe.

All the best

I recommend the book by Marilyn Stowe - if nothing else, for 99p it will tell you what the procedure in clear language.
